Yonhap News Agency (South Korea)


Yonhap was founded in 1980 with the merger of the state-run KBS and MBC and several commercial news agencies. Yonhap also has an agreement with the Korean Central News Agency (KCNA) of North Korea to exchange news services.

Yonhap employs more than 100 correspondents across the nation, providing extensive coverage of politics, the economy, defence, society, culture and science seven days a week.

As well as covering this economically and strategically vital nation, Yonhap also has correspondents in Washington, Los Angeles, New York, Hong Kong, Berlin, Brussels, Cairo, Hanoi, London, Shanghai, Geneva Paris, Moscow, Tokyo, Beijing and several other major cities around the world to cover stories on Korean affairs as well as international issues from the Korean perspective.
